Family-owned in Bakersfield, licensed since 2016

Tinoco Painting is a family-owned painting contractor in Bakersfield, California, licensed by the Contractors State License Board since 2016 (CA Lic. #1012030, C-33 Painting and Decorating). Interior and exterior house painting, cabinet refinishing, commercial painting and industrial coatings across Kern County.

Tinoco Painting is a family-owned painting business in Bakersfield, run by Ray Tinoco. The State of California licensed it on 11 March 2016 and the license — number 1012030, classification C-33 Painting and Decorating — has been current and active ever since. You can check that yourself on the state’s own register; the number links to it from the footer of every page on this site.

That matters more in this trade than in most. Painting is one of the easiest things in the world to start doing badly: anybody can buy a roller, and the difference between work that lasts ten years and work that fails in one is almost entirely invisible on the day it is finished. It shows up later, in peeling at the top edge of a garage door, in a hairline crack that has telegraphed straight back through, in a west-facing wall that has chalked while the north side still looks fine.

So the work here is mostly preparation. Washing off the valley dust so the paint bonds to the wall, not to the dust. Filling and caulking the cracks that a 105-degree afternoon and an air-conditioned interior open up every single year. Degreasing cabinet doors before they are sanded. Waiting for a west wall to come out of the sun instead of coating it at 2pm in July because the crew is standing there. None of it photographs well and all of it is why the finish holds.

Alongside houses there is commercial and industrial work — offices, retail units, tenant turnovers, and protective coatings on tanks, structural steel and plant equipment out in the Kern County oilfields. The license, a $25,000 contractor bond and current workers’ compensation cover are all published on this site with their numbers, because a facilities manager should not have to ask for them twice.

Why Tinoco Painting

Why people call

Licensed, bonded, covered — with the numbers

California license 1012030, C-33 Painting and Decorating, active through March 2028. A $25,000 contractor bond with Western Surety. Current workers’ compensation cover. The license number links to the state’s own register so you can verify all of it without taking anyone’s word for it.

The preparation is the job

Valley dust bonds onto stucco rather than sitting loose on it, so paint applied over an unwashed wall is stuck to the dust and not to the wall. Washing down, filling, caulking and sealing is most of the work and all of the reason a finish lasts.

Worked around the heat, not through it

Most coatings should not go onto a surface much above 90 degrees, and a west-facing stucco wall in a Bakersfield July is far hotter than the air. That means early starts and following the shade around a building. It takes longer. It is the only way the film behaves.

Testimonials

What customers say

Published by Tinoco Painting, quoted as written.

Ray was great to work with very attentive and his response time was perfect. He did a fantastic paint job on my garage doors at a very reasonable price for the quality he provides. Would definitely recommend and will be using him again myself for any other painting project we might have.

Michele Stagi Customer testimonial

Ray’s team did a great job on my house. They were all very friendly and let us know when they were going to arrive each day and kept the place clean as they worked. It’s nice to have a good crew when the job spans several days. The paint job was 5 stars with a good primer base and they got all the high points of the house and even painted the metal chimneys on the roof. I would definitely recommend them. I got exactly what I wanted, and the house looks great now. They did sanding, scraped all old paint where needed and caulked the windows before the job which nobody else said they would do. Thanks Ray, it was nice working with you!

Mark OConnor Customer testimonial

Ray’s team did a great job on my garage doors. They had to cover a darker color that had become chalky, and used a superior product meant to withstand the sun on our west-facing doors. They were patient with me when I was unsure of which sheen I should use, and I’m very happy with the results! The new color matches the color of my home, which was also a concern of mine.
