Taft sits up in the foothills at the southwestern corner of the valley, in the middle of the West Side oilfields, higher and drier than Bakersfield and with a good deal more wind.
Two kinds of work come out of a town like this. The first is ordinary: houses, and a compact downtown of older commercial buildings that take a lot of sun and a lot of wind-blown grit. Older masonry and stucco here often has several generations of coating on it, and the honest first step is finding out what is underneath and whether it is sound, because a new coat over a failing old one fails with it.
The second is industrial. Tank exteriors, structural steel, pipework supports and plant equipment out in the field are fighting UV, thermal cycling and abrasive dust all at once, and the coating on them is doing a protective job rather than a decorative one. That work is specified from the substrate and the service condition, and where a coating specification already exists we work to it.
Anything built before 1978 may carry lead-based coatings, and removing them is regulated — worth flagging at the inquiry stage on the older buildings downtown, because it changes how the job is set up rather than whether it can be done.

Ray was great to work with very attentive and his response time was perfect. He did a fantastic paint job on my garage doors at a very reasonable price for the quality he provides. Would definitely recommend and will be using him again myself for any other painting project we might have.

Ray’s team did a great job on my garage doors. They had to cover a darker color that had become chalky, and used a superior product meant to withstand the sun on our west-facing doors. They were patient with me when I was unsure of which sheen I should use, and I’m very happy with the results! The new color matches the color of my home, which was also a concern of mine.
