Residential, commercial & industrial painting in Tehachapi, CA
Painting in Tehachapi — four thousand feet up, with a mountain climate to match.
Tehachapi is a genuinely different climate from Bakersfield rather than just a different town. It sits nearly four thousand feet up in the mountains between the valley and the Mojave Desert, and paint behaves differently here in ways that matter.
The first difference is the day-night swing. At this elevation a warm afternoon can be followed by a night near or below freezing for a good part of the year, and a coating applied too late in the day can be caught by dew or frost before it has set. That is what causes surfactant leaching — the streaky, slightly sticky residue people find on a wall the morning after — and in the worst case it stops the film curing properly at all. Exterior work here has a shorter usable working day than down in the valley and it has to be planned that way.
The second is wind and UV. Tehachapi is famous for its wind, and wind at altitude carries grit that scours exposed elevations and drives rain into every gap around trim and flashing. UV load is higher up here too. Both mean exposed south and west elevations weather faster than the same wall would in Bakersfield.
The third is the winter. Snow and freeze-thaw get into hairline cracks in stucco and into the end grain of unsealed wood trim, and open them up. Filling and sealing properly before coating is what stops a crack becoming a split.

Ray was great to work with very attentive and his response time was perfect. He did a fantastic paint job on my garage doors at a very reasonable price for the quality he provides. Would definitely recommend and will be using him again myself for any other painting project we might have.
Ray’s team did a great job on my house. They were all very friendly and let us know when they were going to arrive each day and kept the place clean as they worked. It’s nice to have a good crew when the job spans several days. The paint job was 5 stars with a good primer base and they got all the high points of the house and even painted the metal chimneys on the roof. I would definitely recommend them. I got exactly what I wanted, and the house looks great now. They did sanding, scraped all old paint where needed and caulked the windows before the job which nobody else said they would do. Thanks Ray, it was nice working with you!
Ray’s team did a great job on my garage doors. They had to cover a darker color that had become chalky, and used a superior product meant to withstand the sun on our west-facing doors. They were patient with me when I was unsure of which sheen I should use, and I’m very happy with the results! The new color matches the color of my home, which was also a concern of mine.
